User Impersonation
Authorized users can login as another user to access webCOMAND as that user, without the other user's password. This can help troubleshoot issues and perform tasks on the user's behalf.
Impersonate
An authorized user can login as another user with the following steps.
- Either logout of webCOMAND or open a new "Private" (aka "Incognito" in Chrome, "InPrivate" in Edge and IE) browser window.
- Go to the webCOMAND Login.
- Enter your username followed by a colon and then the username of the user to impersonate. For example: "admin: user"
- Enter your password.
- Click Sign In.
When impersonating another user, a purple mask badge () will display over the user profile icon in the upper-right. Click the user profile to see impersonation information.
Authorize
User's with "System Administration" checked in the User > Authorizations > Roles tab are authorized to impersonate any user.
To authorize other users to impersonate:
- Launch the Users App.
- Select the user to authorize on the left.
- Click the Authorizations tab and then the Privileges tab.
- On the left, expand and select COMAND Login > Impersonate.
- Check the User Roles the user should be authorized to impersonate.
A user must be authorized to impersonate ALL roles associated with the specific user they are going to impersonate. If the impersonating user is not authorized to impersonate any of the user's User Roles, they will not be authorized to impersonate the user.
